Faith Kleppinger's Boulevards ready to drop
For all of Faith's fans out there, Boulevards is in the can and ready to order! Faith's third solo release, Boulevards successfully ties together both her earlier solo records, as well as her earlier work in the Little Bobby Taylors. Boulevards features five tracks recorded with Mike Bridavsky at Russian Recordings in Nashville, Indiana, which is where No Galore was recorded, and a sixth track recorded at Chase Park Transduction in Athens, Georgia, with David Barbe, who brought us Asleep in the Well. The remaining four tracks were recorded with Tony Whitlock at Queensize Twin Air in Indianapolis, Indiana. Musicians on the record include Kenny Childers and the other members of Gentleman Caller, many of whom played on No Galore, Blake Rainey and David Barbe (again, from Asleep in the Well), the aforementioned Tony Whitlock, and other members of the fertile Bloomington, Indiana music community. Faith penned eight of the ten tracks, with one song written by Kenny Childers and the other by Faith's former Little Bobby Taylor's bandmate, Judson Henry.
Faith is planning a short tour with Gentleman Caller, as soon as the release of its new record gets worked out. In the meantime, there are no immediately plans for a release show. Please keep posted here or at Faith's Myspace page for further developments.
Next up - Dodd Ferrelle's Lonely Parades
It's been three years since Dodd last graced us with new material. A lot has changed in Dodd's life since The Murder of Love was released in 2005 - Dodd got married, and has added not one, but two bundles of joy. With all those good things going on, it's no surprise that Lonely Parades is a more upbeat record than its morose predecessor!
That's not all that's different on this outing. After two records and over five years of touring and recording with a static backing band (the Tinfoil Stars), Dodd has opted to return to the sound and feel of his first solo record, 2000's Carriage on the Hill. Not having a backing band has allowed Dodd to free himself to experiment more with instrumentation and invite the musicians to play on each track that make sense for that track, rather than trying to fit the arrangements to the band. As a result, Dodd plays more instruments on this record than ever before. Musicians on the record include renowned Athens musicians such as Jon Mills (who also played on Carriage on the Hill), Kyle Spence, Claire Campbell, John Neff. Revered Americana artist Jim White also guests on the record. One piece of continuity - Dodd has once again at Chase Park Transduction with David Barbe.
In other Dodd news, Dodd has recently remastered Carriage on the Hill, with plans to re-release it concurrently with Lonely Parades. There are also plans in the works to make the rest of Dodd's back catalog available digitally.
